1st Hole
Anyone who is long and straight off the tee will find the opening holes at Whitburn much to their liking as there are plenty of birdie chances.
However, you might be well advised not to hit a driver at the 358 yard first as there is out of bounds on the left, a large gully just short of the green, plus two fairway bunkers on the right of the fairway. Also, a long straight drive will normally leave you at the bottom of the gully and obscure the marker post which is located directly behind the green.
Even from the fairway, it's a blind second shot to the small green which is on top of the gully. The green is also protected by trees on the right and out of bounds on the left which can catch an errant approach shot.
Anyone escaping with a par here has done well!!.
