Captains Message
May I welcome you to Whitburn Golf Club's official web site. Whitburn prides itself as being a friendly, welcoming club and this mantle covers both staff and members.
Whilst our course has been well described and photographed elsewere on the site, I would add that words and photgraphs cannot do it justice. You really have to experience it for yourself standing on the 18th tee. To the north is a splendid view up the coast to the Farne Islands and to the north-west the Cheviot Hills give a panoramic view as far as the eye can see. To the south is an unbroken view down the coast to Teeside. To the east is an ever-changing view of the North Sea with an endless variety of shipping and seascapes. On a fine, clear day it is breathtaking.
You also have to experience our greens, which are widely accepted as the best in South Tyneside, Northern England or even the UK (depending on whom you are speaking to).Personally, I enjoy putting on our greens, and have done so since becoming a member nearly 20 years ago. In fact, I enjoy them so much that I normally take a couple of extra putts for good measure.
Finally, I would like to wish that all guests and visitors have a memorable and enjoyable experience on our wonderful golf course with the desire to return as soon as possible.
